Whistleblower Will Make Public the Documents on Sony at a Press Conference
Friday Feb. 20
A long term former Sony International Pictures employee who was prominently known as the “unidentified Sony employee” in the leaked email scandal charges Sony Pictures with systematically targeting black employees for harassment, retaliation and firings. She also claims that Sony Pictures has engaged in a systematic practice of blatant discrimination against African-American employees in hiring and promotions. She will present documents to show the pattern of discrimination in the company. Sony’s racial biased practices, she says, are no aberration, but a pattern with other studios as well.
“The documents that the former Sony employee presents,” says Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson, “paints a damning picture of blatant racial discrimination and harassment in the film industry. Her going public on the eve of the Academy Awards this Sunday mocks the film industry’s claim that it seeks to promote diversity.”
