Hutchinson Report News Reveals 2008 Romney Speech Disparaging Working Persons

Hutchinson Report News Reveals  Video of Romney 2008 Speech That Disparages Working Persons and Claims They are Government Dependents

The Hutchinson Report News uncovered and posted the video of a speech by Mitt Romney to the Conservative Political Action Conference February, 2008 in which he disparaged poor and working persons and claimed that it was a government plan to impoverish them and that the government encouraged dependency. Romney essentially repeated the same line disparaging thousands of working people when he branded them “the 47 percent that pay no taxes” in his May 17 videotape talk to donors. He claimed as he did four years earlier that they are government wards and the government deliberately encourages their dependency.

The 2008 video released on The Hutchinson Report News is damning prove that Romney has long and consistently held working people in contempt and believes that they are dregs and drains on the economy. Here is a revealing excerpt from his 2008 speech.

The threat to our culture comes from within. In the 1960s, there were welfare programs that created a culture of poverty in our country. Now, some people think we won that battle when we reformed welfare. But the liberals haven't given up. At every turn, they tried to substitute government largess for individual responsibility. They fight to strip work requirements from welfare, to put more people on Medicaid, and remove more and more people from having to pay any income tax whatsoever.

Dependency is death to initiative, risk-taking and opportunity. Dependency is culture killing. It's a drug. We've got to fight it like the poison it is.

Here is the full speech.

“Romney’s attempt to walk back his damning and untrue slur that 47 percent of Americans are tax deadbeats and in essence government dependent,” says Hutchinson,” rings hollow. The videotape of his 2008 speech reveals a corporate elitist, out of touch, deceiving politician who has long held working persons in contempt and has spread the falsehood that Democrats plot to keep them impoverished.”
