Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson and other civil rights groups held a press conference in front of Walmart on Crenshaw Bl. Monday July 16 at 9:00 AM which was the scene of violence Monday night. They announced they and other concerned citizens will be Trayvon Martin Peace Monitors on Crenshaw Bl. street corners between Stocker and 43rd St and Crenshaw Bl. Tuesday night to ensure community peace and calm and no reoccurrence of Monday night’s violence.
“The disturbances on Crenshaw Monday night dishonored the memory of Trayvon Martin and the violence that claimed his life,” says Hutchinson, “We will field a team of what we call Martin Peace Monitors on three street corners from 8 to 9 PM to monitor activities on Crenshaw and have a visible community presence.
