Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson will announce the presentation of a Young Scholars Award to Trayvon Martin’s brother, Jahvaris Fulton on Friday, July 19 at 9:45 AM. Fulton is a student at Florida International University in Miami. The organization announced it selected Martin for its monthly Young Scholar Impact Award because of his dedication to furthering his college studies and to honor the memory of his slain brother. The funding award will go to help provide him with financial support for books, and other college expenses. Mr. Fulton will not be present. The check will be sent directly to him at his home in Miami after the public announcement.
“We are pleased to honor Trayvon Martin’s memory by supporting his brother, Jahvaris Fulton’s effort to pursue his studies and in his career advancement,” says Hutchinson, “We hope others will follow our example and provide him and his family with the financial support they need in this challenging time for them.”
