Earl Ofari Hutchinson's take on the politics of the day
Results, not Race are what Should Matter
With all the hoopla, furor and negativity being directed to the president of the Spokane Washington NAACP branch Rachel Dolezal, let’s examine her record as a NAACP leader:
She has established Moral Mondays Northwest. Moral Mondays Northwest was established to begin each week by focusing and acting upon to improve areas all of us are impacted on. In just two months take a look at the areas her leadership has worked on:
May 11th: Intro/Justice
May 18th: Political Representation & Voting
May 25th: Health/Healthcare
June 1st: Education
June 8th: Economic Sustainability
June 15th: Criminal Justice
Not bad for a woman to get her feet wet and to tackle these issues head on. This past February she tackled immigration reform. She has shown no fear despite the fact she has received hate mail from groups such as the White Aryan Nation, the Klu Klux Klan and others.
It seems strange that now she has been outed as a black impersonator. A friend asked did she benefit from programs designed to help people of color?
Do her parents feel embarrassed by the fact that she identified herself as part of the black experience?
What’s her motive?
To be quite frank all of this doesn’t matter because at the end of the day it’s what you have accomplished, not what you have sprouted off about.
Rachel has not only talked the talk, she’s walked the walk.
You go girl.
