L.A. Civil Rights Leaders Hold Selma March Anniversary

Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson and civil rights organizations, CORE, National Action Network, NAACP, Project Islamic Hope, and the SCLC announced that a 50th anniversary Selma March Call to Action  and press conference will be held Saturday, March 7, at 11;00 AM at the King Civil Rights Monument, corner of King and Crenshaw Blvds, L.A. 90008. The commemoration will challenge L.A. city officials to tackle police violence, poverty, education and health care disparities, and strengthen civil rights protections in L.A.

"The Selma March anniversary commemoration will not be an event simply to honor the past,” says Hutchinson," But will be a call to action by L.A. city officials to confront the issues of police violence and the  continuing civil rights and economic injustices in the city."
