Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson and other civil rights leaders on Wednesday, October 10 demanded that the Romney Election Campaign Committee denounce the violently racist anti-Obama display of a watermelon and a hanging noose by prominent Romney supporter Blake la Beck on his Morgan Hill, California property. The display is not just an isolated example of one man’s bigotry but is prominently displayed near a public road and a Romney Campaign sign.
The display is seen daily by numbers of residents and passersby. It has been on display for several days with not a public word of condemnation by the GOP or Romney campaign officials.
“The blatantly racist anti-Obama display by an avowed Romney supporter sends a horrible message that racist attacks are not only openly displayed but tacitly condoned by many,” says Hutchinson, “The Romney Campaign’s silence on a display put up in his name sends the even more dangerous message that racist acts will not be condemned when done in support of Romney.”
Comment by Lita (Sister) Herron on October 11, 2012 at 11:04am Perfect example of an American racist, loud, proud, visual. It is a good thing for them to identify themselves, they speak so well for their country. Yes tell the world who you really are Blake little Beck, from who cares. As an AA woman raised by such nonsense, by definition watermelon jokes are ignorant debates in 2012. He's fortunate we don't go after his inbred, undereducated, trailer park looking, ill mannered toad racism. Just glad to know we can find him in Morgan Hills, CA. Too low for Romney to even see, please. How far is MH from LA? Road trip? Lol
